I’m sharing one final excerpt from All of Me, a polyamorous erotic romance that will consist of 4 novellas when it’s finished and I’m planning on having books and 2 out for purchase later this year. So far we’re on track with that plan. Be sure to stick around and watch for it.
WIPpet Wednesday is a blog hop in which we post a portion of our WIP that somehow relates to the date. My math is sketchy so hang on because it might not make much sense.
This week I’m skipping math, it’s just so tiring. March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, so I’ll give you the first three paragraphs and the last four paragraphs of chapter 5. Does that work for you?
First three paragraphs:
Dylan stirred the chili, letting the spicy aroma tickle his nose. Cornbread muffins were cooling on the counter and Cassidy would arrive any minute. Becky had never liked his chili, she’s said it was too hot to eat. His reply had always been that she should come to the firehouse and try Barb’s. That woman brought new meaning to the word five alarm. Becky had just flicked her hair over her shoulder, sucked at her teeth and walked away.
That was the thing with Becky. She’d never really considered anyone else, always herself first. She’d been so selfish and he had overlooked it until he’d found her in bed with another man. His bed. He took a deep breath to release the pain thinking of her brought back. He’d always known what she was like. She’d been honest from the start about finding his long hours and strange schedule difficult to live with. She’d always complained when he’d gotten called in because someone was sick or injured and they needed another firefighter.
He’d explained that firefighting was what he’d always wanted to do. She shrugged and said being a family was her goal and she couldn’t do that with him being gone three or four days a week. She’d even suggested they try an open relationship, so she’d wasn’t left alone all the time. He’d lost it. That would never work for him. He didn’t want to share her with anyone.
They have dinner and get to know each other… very well (ahem). Here are the last four paragraphs:
Dylan smiled and waved as she pulled out of his driveway. He didn’t think he’d done anything wrong but then she’d frozen and he wasn’t sure why. What he was sure of was that he wanted to know more about Cassidy. He had a lot of thinking to do; he knew Cassidy was different from any other girl that he’d ever dated and he wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or bad thing.
He turned to go back into the house, shaking his head, hadn’t he promised himself he wouldn’t get involved again? Why was he here? Because Mark thought he needed to try again?
Dean too, his longtime mentor had been on him to get back in the dating game and let himself leave Becky behind. What did Dean know anyway? Had he had his heart trampled by all the women he’d ever dated? Dean was happily married to Katherine. A sweet innocent girl with big brown eyes. Her heart was as big as the sky and she’d never hurt a fly, or cheat on Dean. Dylan was sure of that. Dean and Katherine had one of the strongest marriages he’d ever seen, one he’d want for himself if he could ever meet the right girl.
He watched Cassidy’s car disappear down the road in the dark, tail lights glowing brightly like the desire between them had not too long ago. Maybe he’d found the right girl finally.
That was a mash-up from what I usually do but for this chapter it felt right. Did you like it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
