Hello Manic Followers! It’s WIPpet Wednesday again! The day when I use my crazy dysfunctional math skills to share a bit of my WIP with you. Other than the math part I love WIPpet Wednesday because it’s a chance to let you in on what I’m working on and hear your thoughts on it.
I’m currently working on several pieces that are in varying stages of development. I have Divorced White Female which is four books in total. DWF is a web novella that you can read for free here. I’m in the process of posting book 1, Back in the Game, on its website. I’m working with a critique partner on book 2, Dishonest Men, and making revisions according to her excellent suggestions. And I’m writing book 3, Finding Myself. I’m about halfway done and will have to work on developing the outline I have for book 4 which doesn’t have a title yet.
I’m also working on another series called The Judgment Series. It’s part of a much larger collection, The Poly Chronicles. I’m currently writing book 1, All of Me. The Judgment Series is a polyamorous erotic romance that will consist of 4 novellas when it’s finished and I’m planning on having books 1 and 2 out for purchase later this year. So far we’re on track with that plan. Be sure to stick around and watch for it.
I am mixing up my WIPpet Wednesday posts and giving you excerpts from all of these so you have a sampling of my writing and WIPS.
WIPpet Wednesday is a blog hop in which we post a portion of our WIP that somehow relates to the date. As previously mentioned my math is sketchy so hang on because it might not make much sense. This week my excerpt is from All of Me again. (p.s. I won’t share any of the really steamy scenes here. It’s a family friendly blog. If you’re interested in that then you’ll have to buy the book when it’s published, request and ARC for review or watch for a contest to win it.) This week I added, the month (3) to the date (2 and 2) to the year (2 and 0 and 1 and 7) which is 17. Then I squared 17 because I could and subtracted 13 because it’s bad luck. SO I’m sharing 276 words from Chapter 4 with you. (I don’t actually believe in bad luck but it works here.)
Context: Dylan calls Cassidy, and she decides she has something very important to tell him. Unfortunately, she ends up not telling him when she hears what he’s called to tell her. (This is a rough, unrevised passage. I’ve tried to catch errors and the end product may change.)
Cassidy had just lost for the fourth time to Alex when her phone rescued her from losing again. “I’m going to take this call, sweetie. Should have stuck with Portal, I wouldn’t have given up.”
“Mom, you’ll get better. You just need practice.”
“I’m not sure practice will help.” She laughed, as she hit accept on her phone. “Hello.”
“Hi, Cassidy, it’s Dylan. Is this a bad time?”
“Not at all. You rescued me from the humiliation of being beaten at MarioKart for the fifth time today.”
“Umm, ok.” He paused for a long moment. “Is that good?”
“It’s very good. I’d much rather talk to you.” Cassidy laughed into the phone and settled herself in her favorite chair. “Unless you’re calling to cancel our date? That will make me sad.”
“No, I just wanted to say hi.”
She could hear it in his voice, there was something more that he wasn’t saying. She wasn’t sure how to ask him about it. “Sure. Should I bring anything when I come over?”
She wasn’t sure what to do with his silence. He’d called her, but didn’t seem to have anything to say. She had things to say even if she didn’t want to say them. “Hey, I think maybe I should tell you something.”
“Yeah, me too.” He took a deep breath into the phone and then went silent.
“Did I lose you?”
“No, I’m here.”
Cassidy waited for him to speak. “You wanted to say something?”
“Yeah, you know how Joe pointed out that I’m a bachelor? I just wanted to be sure you knew it wasn’t on purpose.”
“Sure.” Cassidy wrinkled her brow.
