Hello! It’s WIPpet Wednesday again. Are you excited? I am! I just love sharing bits of my WIP, Amethyst in the Rough, with you and I hope they intrigue you enough to check out the book when it’s published this year. My Manic Followers will be the first to enter to win a few free copies I’ll be setting aside.
WIPpet Wednesday is a blog hop in which we post a portion of our work in progress that somehow relates to the date. Since math and I are not friends (really) I’ve simplified this year. This week the month will correlate to the chapter and each excerpt will begin with the paragraph number that the date corresponds to. I usually post more than one paragraph though to help it make sense.

Background: Amy has just been caught in her hiding spot. It’s a precarious position because she isn’t equipped to defend herself and she’s unsure what’s in store for her.
Lucius, his companion pronounced each letter carefully rather than blending them all together, ‘Loo-ce-us,’ at least she knew his name now. He looked back at her and smirked as the footsteps retreated again. “Now what am I going to do with you?”
“You could just be a gentleman and help me find my way out of here.” She spoke softly so she wouldn’t upset him. Here eyes darted around as she looked for an escape. A wound on his forearm, red, swollen and seeping a bit through an obviously amateur stitching job caught her eye. “I could fix that wound for you, if you did.”
“Could you now?” He held his left arm up. The gash, about four inches long, looked like it had been deep, even in the dim light it was apparent to Amy that he needed wound care.
“I could.” She kept her voice confident and calm, trying to seem less vulnerable than she was.
He scoffed at her. “You’re not old enough to be a doctor. You can’t be older than me. I don’t need my arm to be amputated.”
Well, that adds to the mystery from last week’s WIPpet, doesn’t it? Did you think she was safe or in trouble last week? What do you think now?
