Hello and welcome back for another WIPpet Wednesday. I’m the Manic Writer, Ann Shannon. I write books and I’m even publishing one this year. WIPpet Wednesday is an opportunity for me to share an excerpt of my WIP with you so you can look forward to reading the book.
All this month I’ve been sharing excerpts from Divorced White Female: Back in the Game with you. I’ll finish the month out with one final excerpt from it and then next month I’ll move on. The rule for WIPpet Wednesday is that you must arrive at your excerpt using a math equation, last weeks was a little fuzzy. This week I’m sharing the final 1010 words because 2017 divided by 2 is 1,008 and then I added 2 again for the month.
I have warned you about math and I. It’s a long-standing problem for me.
Context: None needed. It’s a short excerpt this week, just a wrap up of Lylah’s thoughts.
On my way home I’m contemplating her parting words. “You need to find better dates than your friends can find. Join a dating service or something.” I resist the thought of a dating site. That’s where Newton met her. Aren’t they for cheaters? Even as the thought crosses my mind I know they aren’t. Terry has met some great people through her dating site.
Where else would I meet men? The subway stops and I sway with the motion even though I’m lucky enough to have a seat. In true New York style I don’t even glance up at the people getting on until I’m distracted by the skinny jeans that seat themselves across from me. Curiosity gets the better of me and I let my eyes travel up muscular legs. An arm, sleeve pushed up to just below his elbow, rests across his lap, the tiniest bit of a tattoo peeking out. How is he not cold? As my perusal continues my eyes make their way up to his face. I look away as quickly as I can because he’s watching me too. It’s Forearm guy, and he’s smiling at me.
