Welcome to the Manic Writer!
I’m Ann Shannon, the Manic Writer, and this month I’m starting something new. I will be sending out a single monthly update of my goals and my progress and, if I publish anything that will be included also. I write romance, erotic romance and and bit of SciFi romance. Won’t you drop your email in that subscribe box to the right and join me in my mania?
I’ve set a 300 thousand word goal for the year. That is, it’s my plan to write 300 thousand new words this year. I’ve also set a 250 thousand word revision goal which means I’m hoping to revise and edit that much and prepare my manuscripts for querying and submission. My hope is to submit at least two manuscripts this year.
I also plan to read 48 books this year. You can follow me on GoodReads to see how I’m doing with that!
So far I’m doing well and I am on track to achieve my goals. I’ve written 69,302 words since January 1! This is how I’ve done it!
- I’ve completed a rewrite of my first novel An Amethyst in the Rough. It’s a 90k dystopian romance that I submitted to an editor last year. It was returned with the advise to revise it and resubmit it. I’m well on the way to that goal. (Revising an entire novel is A LOT of work!) Amethyst is currently being critiqued by my amazing crit partner, Tasha, and will be resubmitted when it is done. I will release the synopsis here when it’s ready.
- I’ve completed an untitled work in the erotic romance genre. It is resting while I write another book and will be in revision and editing in March. It currently sits at just under 60K though that may change with revision. (Note: names are also subject to change.) Once it’s been through a round of revision (and hopefully titled) it will head out to beta readers.
Blurb: Jasmine Boyd’s life is as ordinary as they come until she runs into her crush from high school Caelan Lindsay and his best friend Seamus O’Connery. Fifteen years haven’t changed a thing about her feelings. When they both ask her out she worries that she will drive a wedge between their close friendship. What she doesn’t realize is that between them is exactly where they want her. It’s not an easy decision to make, one offers a lifetime of happiness and the other, always wondering what might have been.
- My current WIP is the first in a trilogy titled Trust and Obey, book one is titled The Romance. It is currently at 23k words and I expect it to be complete at about 80k. It is in the erotic romance genre. I have books 2 and 3 titled and outlined but I will be breaking to revise the above untitled work before I begin them.
My current plans for February are to complete The Romance and set it aside to rest. If I have time in February I will begin the outline of the next book, or do research for a new romantic suspense book that I’d like to write.
Stay tuned for blurbs, offers to beta read and more news!
