Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I’m taking the week off from blogging and some of my work.
I’m very thankful for my readers and for the opportunity I have to write. I’m a very lucky woman to have a family that supports me.
Share in the comments what you are thankful for.
Here’s a snippet of what I’m working on when I’m not blogging. It’s from my current WIP- An Amethyst in the Rough.
“What happened?” Damien squatted next to his father.
“Uprising… Tony…” Paul gasped with the pain of speaking. “I..” He shook his head and rested it back on the wall behind him.
“It’s ok. Don’t talk.” Damien met his father’s eyes, trying to read them. “I’ll go get Dr. Wyman.” He nodded to Lucius. “You stay here.”
“Damien.” His father’s hand rested weakly on his knee. “Too late.”
Damien shook his head, he wasn’t ready to hear those words again. He’d never be ready for that. “It’s not.” He rose and then sank again when his father tried to speak.
The words sputtered from his mouth. “Find Norm and tell him,” his breath was heavy and he stopped to pant. “He’ll take care of you.”
Damien was stiff and quiet as he sank to his knee and leaned closer to his father. He wiped any emotion he felt from his mind to deliver the news he wanted to ignore. “Norm’s dead. Tony killed him.”
Paul’s eyes widened and he gasped loudly as he tried to sit up. “What!?”
Damien slid his gaze to Lucius who met him with a stony silence. They both knew what the deaths of both men meant for them. They’d be competition for anyone wanting to take leadership.
“What,” Paul wheezed and coughed, blood speckling his lips, “did he say?”
Norm’s final words echoed in his head. “He said to get Amy and Sue to Serenity.”
“Do it.” Paul’s labored breathing let up for a moment as his eyes slid shut. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth and a red bubble formed at his nose. His eyes opened slowly and he held Damien’s attention. “You must get them to safety. We owe them our lives.”
Thanks for stopping by.
The Mania is so much more fun with friends.
