She took a deep breath and pushed back the sense of panic. While she didn’t know how her assigned dragonman would treat her, there was one thing she had to look forward to — the men were rumored to be fit and muscled. For once in her life, Melanie would get to sleep with a strong hot man. She only hoped he wouldn’t be a complete bastard.

Sacrificed to the Dragon is a very hot paranormal shifter story. If you know me, then you know I can’t turn down a good paranormal story, add in some hot romance and I’m sold. Make it about dragons (or mermaids) and I might become obsessed.
I would like acknowledgment of the fact that I haven’t binge read all nine in the series and four in a similar series. I know my readers need more variety than that. They are definitely on the list.
Melanie Hall wants to save her brothers life. The only way she can do that is to offer herself as a sacrifice to the dragons.
It’s not what it seems. The dragons keep to themselves. They’ve long been hunted by humans for their blood and for sport. As a result their numbers are dwindling and they aren’t reproducing fast enough to make up for it.
Enter the humans. Well the compatible ones anyway. Of which Melanie Hall is lucky to be one. The trade is simple; she agrees to be paired with a hot sexy dragonman for six months, and to stay if she gets pregnant, until the baby dragon is born. Then she’s free to leave. In return she’ll get a vial of his life-giving blood to heal her brother. The question isn’t whether she’s willing to do it. Melanie will do anything for her brother. The question is can she put up with the dragonman she’s supposed to be mated to?
Will he scare her away or will she discover why he’s distant and hateful towards humans? What will happen when her time is up?
What I expected vs What I got
Sacrificed to the Dragon was not at all what I expected.
I’ll be honest—I expected a hot racy romance with lots of dragons and sex. Oh, it has that, but the truth is, it has so much more. It has a story that left me wishing I could read just one more chapter, page or even paragraph when I needed to put it down and return to life.
One thing I loved was the back and forth between Melanie’s dragonman, Tristan, and his inner dragon. More than once they made me laugh out loud.
I’m a critical reader. I admit it. I read a lot, like 2-3 books a week. I read within my own genres, romance, erotic romance and scifi. I read other genres that I love, mostly paranormal and urban fantasy. I read writing craft books.
You get it; I read a lot.
And I’m picky. I don’t have time to read something I’m not loving. If it doesn’t have me by the 20% mark I delete it from my kindle and move on. It’s heartless, I know but life is too short for books you don’t love. Set them on the DNF (did not finish) pile. Reconsider them later if you want. Sometimes it’s just not the right time for you to read that book, but don’t force it.
Sacrificed to the Dragon had me by 3%! I’m not kidding. I read it so fast my husband didn’t even notice me reading it. I considered re-reading it, but really I needed to move on. I have books to review and craft to learn. I will definitely re-read it when I have time. And I’ve already bought books 2 and 3. I can’t wait.
